Topics covered: economy, abortion, immigration, stem cell research, Iraq war, Iran, Afghanistan, foreign policy, nation building, the monetary system and destruction of the dollar, 911-what he would have done different, civil liberties, open government and privacy, ethics in government, marijuana and the war on drugs-legalization, Alternative energies (ethanol, hemp, solar, nuclear)-free market solutions, health care, homeschooling and private education, corrupt government, the primary system

On the issues:
IRAQ WAR: Only Republican member of Congress to vote against war in 2002 and would withdraw all U.S. troops in three to six months.

IMMIGRATION REFORM: Supports strengthening borders with more federal patrols and enforcing laws against employers who hire illegal aliens. Opposes guest worker or any form of amnesty to the 12 million people who got here illegally.

HEALTH CARE: Supports free market solutions such as health savings accounts and transitioning a refundable tax credit so more families can afford health-care coverage; voted to let citizens buy and bring cheaper drugs from Canada into the U.S.

EDUCATION: Voted against No Child Left Behind; supports $3,000 tax credit for families who participate in school choice. Opposes school vouchers as philosophically that means other taxpayers are subsidizing another family's schooling. He supports home schooling.

FEDERAL BUDGET/TAXES: During 19-year congressional career, Paul said he's never voted for a bill to raise taxes and voted against most federal budget spending bills. Would dismantle the Internal Revenue Service, repeal the federal income tax and is open to a national sales tax in its place, but only if the Congress made deep cuts in federal spending first.

ABORTION: Has an anti-abortion voting record, but opposes a constitutional amendment to ban abortion and instead favors letting states restrict the procedure as they see fit. Urges supporters to contend the federal judiciary that outlaws abortion restrictions lacks jurisdiction to take up the issue.

GLOBAL WARMING: Restrictions on pollution should be done at the state rather than federal level. He favors federal tax credits for research of alternative energy sources and says expansion of nuclear power is a "safe, clean" way to cut back use of fossil fuels.

GAY MARRIAGE: Would let the states set restrictions on marriage and voted against federal Defense of Marriage Act in 2004. Says marriage is a religious institution, but would not oppose states issuing licenses that recognized the union of same-sex partners.

STEM-CELL RESEARCH FUNDING: Supports expansion of research, but opposes federal funding for it.

kerrikku @ 6:44 am

and we will be forever and ever and ever and ever.

cosmo1pug @ 3:18 pm

Want me to show you how easy it is to get rid of the national debt? DELETE. Done!! We don't have to pay any nation except for ourselves and that can be handle by printing money. Your a idiot to believe the US will bow to anyone even some of its own people. Our leaders are elected and serve a period of time before dismissed. These leaders do what every man or women would do in the same situation. They are privy to info we aren't. You need to stop being a victim and open your eyes. WE ARE NUMBER1

Uhh the reason Hillary is going to be the democratic nomination is because of her husband. Obama is just a pawn and will soon fall as all good pawns do. Look every election there is one polarizing topic. War, economy, health care, immigration. Every president will talk about it and never do anything different. LOL GO VOTE FOR YOUR CHANGE. HAHAH that makes me smile. You should get a better grasp on politics.

cosmo1pug @ 2:04 am

Big words don't impress me. You should try developing your own perspective on the current economic and political topics. I would bet 2000 dollars you believe that we are warming the world and Sep. 11th was a government job. HAAHAHA you make a easy target for politicians.

gwho @ 2:39 pm

wow as convoluted and ostritch-viewed as one will ever be.

June 5, 2008

cosmo1pug @ 5:09 pm

My logic is sound. Ron is out. Social security is as strong as ever. If someone wants a job they could find one. The dollar is has to be weak every now and then to maintain inflation. WE HAVE THE BEST ECONOMY in the world with every benifit know to man. Lazy and ignorant people can fuck off since they will always be victims and will never be satisfied. You need to get you butt out of the hole or you will always be a democrat

gwho @ 6:47 pm

get downto basic definitions, and the workings. social security is just like a ponzi scheme.u can only fund it if you have SS money used in the general budget also?it sounds like a clever form of tax to me. then we spend trillions (we r now in the trillions) so the gov in the negative is social security in the negative.

perhaps you need to be honest with yourself and ask these questions, instead of using status quo & ad hominem arguments.

June 11, 2008

gwho @ 2:23 am

well by god, i hope you're right, cause it would be nice if our money system was all well and dandy, and congress did have the power to coin and regulate the value of it.

i think we both agree the issue of who has the power to coin money is very important. we all need to think for ourselves, and you don't need to worry about me, i am.

you don't know we will get throug hit just fine. ron paul isn't out. and even if he was, you're using the effect as the reason for th ecause. poor logic.

June 14, 2008

cosmo1pug @ 6:31 am

You want some more cool aid gwho. LOL
Social security isn't broke and its used as polictical leverage to idiots like you.
They fore saw the baby boom and saved for it.
We will get through just fine. You need to start thinking for yourself. Ron is out just like I said 6 months ago.

June 16, 2008

gwho @ 8:52 pm

isn't the reason why hilary and obama are gaining so much traction is because their supporters believe it isn't going very well and want change? (as ambiguous as what that change is)

social security went broke decades ago. are we doing well? we pay almost half our earnings to the government, are we really free?

Squirelbutt @ 1:14 pm

Is working well? More like wont be working long. If he wins great, Nation saved if not I hope it crashes so we can say we told you so.
Ron Paul is about fixing the Flaws in the system. Not exploiting them.

July 2, 2008

cosmo1pug @ 3:56 pm

I thought I was chating with a dummy. I apologize. People definatly resist change no doubt about that. Structure is what they crave and yet big government scares them. Ron would have shrunk the government that would have been nice but to what end? It could be worste that way. Might as well stick with what is working.. OH and it is working very well.

July 4, 2008

Squirelbutt @ 4:28 am

And McInsane isnt a nut? The founding fathers were considered Radical. So get used to change. After all thats what everyone wants. But at the same time are also scared of.

July 7, 2008

cosmo1pug @ 6:41 am

Mccaine will be the next president squirelbutt. Hillary if something goes wierd in the next few months. Might as well deal with it. Ron didn't make it because he is a bit of a nut. Radical ideas don't make it very far in Washington only internet dummies.

July 10, 2008

Squirelbutt @ 11:24 am

cosmo1pug: quote "Smart people see that he isn't a great choice to run the most powerfull nation the world has ever known. It would be like putting a 15yr old girl behind "
Hmm lets see his background.House Committee on Financial Services. House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Been in office 10 terms. Since the Late 70'. Served in the military. Professional Doctor. Studied economics. Honorable and ethical. Yeah this girl can drive this country. Vote Ron Paul. FLip dropped out lol. Huck,McCaine nx

July 11, 2008

Squirelbutt @ 2:37 am

cosmo: The war wasnt declared by congress so it is illegal. Since we have killed nearly a million people and have not captured osama the original target. Yes bring the troops back. There are other fuels besides gas. Oil companies control government legislation on alternative fuels. Keeping people dependant.

July 12, 2008

Squirelbutt @ 6:18 am

Besides Huckabee has fostered the Fair Tax Act which also illiminates the IRS. So more than one person has that view of removal.

July 14, 2008

Squirelbutt @ 11:54 am

Continued…The president can issue rules, regulations, and instructions called executive orders, which have the binding force of law upon federal agencies but do not require congressional approval. So he can do what he says.
