How do I get individual health insurance quotes for North Carolina?

LizzieGirl asked:

I am currently living in New York State and am considering moving to North Carolina. How do I get individual health insurance quotes while still living in NYS? All the websites ask you to provide a North Carolina address which I do not have yet.
Thank you.

You contact a local, independent agent in NC. They'll be able to give you a 'ball park". HOWEVER, if you're under 30 and healthy, it's going to cost about $200 a month. If you have problems, you're likely not going to be insurable, depending on their seriousness. Or it could cost you $500 a month.

You could get the information from a NC broker like myself or search out websites. There are, however, strict rules that NY has about its residents buying or being solicited for insurance issued in other states. Needless to say, nothing could be completed until you are a resident of NC.

Quite honestly, health insurance is just a sideline for me, and I wouldn't be offended if you went elsewhere. My main focus is on life insurance, disability, and long-term care. Even if you already own coverage, you would be doing yourself a favor by contacting me once you move. I prefer working with folks who already own insurance.

Try eHealthInsurance.com

You will need to put in a zip code for NC, but that's it. You can go to usps.com to find a zip code in the city you are considering moving to.
